Today was a day off from paddling, to celebrate Canada Day. The weather still put a damper on traditional celebrations, but we at least took time to relax and fellowship. Besides hanging out at the cottage, we enjoyed a ride up the river in the Haché family’s boat. Afterwards, we shared a late lunch with some new believers who came over to visit. We hoped that we could find some people to give a witness to some people by getting out to our campground for the night at Val-Comeau. Unfortunately the crowds were pretty thin on account of the dreary weather. So we rested a bit and then headed out to prayer meeting at the Tracadie Baptist church.
We ended up with about a dozen locals at the prayer meeting, which seems pretty good considering the size of the churches around here. After some songs, we were given the opportunity to share about the vision of the PrayerPaddle and experiences that we’ve seen so far. It was a good time of encouragement for all, and led into a time of sincere, heartfelt prayer for the region.
Speaking of the experiences so far, this is a good time to bring up some of the reports that have been coming in from places we’ve already been through. The Pentecostal church in Nash Creek called recently to let me know that they’re beginning a partnership in ministry with a group in the Gaspé to begin a broader outreach along the coast from Land’s End (near Percé) to Miramichi. And the independent Baptist church in Bathurst has caught a vision to eventually plant a new church in Caraquet. They are also in a week of revival and “Neighborhood Bible Time” (for children) that has seen professions of faith and many children from the Pabineau Reserve being exposed to the Gospel.
Partner churches: Eglise Evangelique de la Pentecote, Eglise Chretienne Evangelique Baptiste de Tracadie
